In reality, I only bought one of these sets… so far at least… They are a spectacular bargain, especially the pigment sets, considering most of us will never use the entirety of our huge pigment jars with the exception of everyday staples like Vanilla and Naked Pigments. For this reason many MU enthusiasts sell sample sizes (teaspoons or less) online – to recoup some of the 20 bucks spent on a huge jar they will likely never use up! This is the set I bought…

5 Cool Pigments and Glitter (at $29.50, soooo worth it!)

The colors are Frost, Quietly, Pinked Mauve, and Teal Pigments, and Reflects Blackened Red Glitter.

Out of the set my favorites are Teal and Frost (think frosty Vanilla pigment, like a snowbunny!)… Although it’s hard to say there are favorites… the only one I can say for sure that I don’t know about is the pink shade – it’s very frosty. I haven’t swatched these yet; for all I know it could be fabulous!

This is the warm set, suited more to skin colors with yellow undertones or for those who really dig the lovely golden looks – since all the colors are GOLD-toned!

The colors are Gold Dusk, Gold Mode, Gold Stroke, and Melon Pigments, and Reflects Antique Gold Glitter.

Here are some things I would improve about the collection…

1. One criticism I have about the set is not a new or unique one by any means… The small tube containers are by no means workable as far as dispensing pigment on to your brush. No flat lid means no thin layer of product, and no surface for mixing medium. Sticking your brush directly into the lip-gloss type nozzle just doesn’t work out too well… And if you attempt to pour some pigment onto an alternative surface, you may dump quite a bit out more than you intended and make a mess… Never fear!!!

FIX: The empty jars that mineral makeups are commonly packaged in are readily available and inexpensive. They offer an easy way to store your makeup and labeling is as easy as round stickers stuck to the bottom of the jar. Empty jars in 5 gram or 10 gram sizes, and with or without sifters (these are ideal for pigments that tend to clump together slightly in jar) are available at Coastal Scents. And for lowest price 10 jars for 3.29/25 jars for 7.49, WHY NOT?!?! Pop your pigments into these babies (you’ll get a few fill-ups most likely) and these issues will be solved.

2. Secondly… I wish MAC would have added a third set to the collection – a sort of basics, or favorites set of sorts. Pigments such as Vanilla and Naked are indispensable to most MAC fanatics… and there are all time favorites such as Violet and Fuschia pigments… what a PERFECT collection that would have been!

3. A criticism solely for the cool set I purchased… This is a little weird for me to say, concerning the glitter, because I LOVE red, and am constantly seeking red makeup and think this color is a knockout… but it seems a bit out of place in the cool collection… A deep, burnt crimson? Hardly a cool-toned shade… Lovely none the less.

I would love to hit up both the lip sets… Also a great deal at $29.50 a piece for 5 gorgeous lip colors – and such variation per set; however with the awesome releases MAC has been rolling out at a constant rate lately, it’s difficult to keep any kind of room in my budget for makeup! Since I didn’t purchase a lip set, I’m not going to bother to post pictures… Click here to go straight to the Little Darlings page on MAC’s website and check them out!
